The succession was contested by Ish-Bosheth, his only surviving son, and his son-in-law David, who eventually emerged victorious. The main account of Saul’s life and ministry is found in the biblical books of Samuel; Historians have questioned the historicity of his reign.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi; October 30, 1966 – June 7, 2006, born Ahmad Fadil al-Nazl al-Khalileh was a Jordanian Islamist militant who ran a paramilitary training camp in Afghanistan.

After moving to Iraq and being responsible for many bombings, beheadings and attacks during the Iraq War, he became known. He founded al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in the 1990s and led it until his death in June 2006. Zarqawi claimed responsibility on numerous audio- and videotapes for numerous acts of violence in Iraq, including suicide bombings and hostage executions.

Zarqawi opposed the US and Western military presence in the Islamic world, as well as Western support for Israel’s existence. He joined Al-Qaeda in late 2004 and pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden. Al-Tawheed wal-Jihad later became known as Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

And al-Zarqawi was given the title al-Qaeda, “Al Qaeda in the Country of Two Rivers”. In September 2005, the Iraqi government declared an “all-out war” against Shiites in Iraq following an attack by the Iraqi government on insurgents in the Sunni town of Tal Afar. He sent numerous suicide bombers across Iraq and attacked American troops and units with large numbers of Shiite militias.

He is also believed to be responsible for the 2005 bombings of three hotels in Amman, Jordan. Zarqawi was killed in targeting by joint US forces on 7 June 2006 while attending a meeting in an isolated safe house about 8 km north of Baquba. A United States Air Force F-16C jet dropped two 500-pound guided bombs on the safehouse.

Athaliah was the queen consort of Judah as the wife of King Jehoram, and then the queen reigned for six years. William F. Albright dates her reign to 842–837 BC, while Edwin R. Thiel’s dates, taken from the third edition of his Magnum Opus, were 842/841 to 836/835 BC.

However, the early date of 842/841 for Athaliah is a year earlier than the date of 841/840 that Thiel gave for the death of her son Ahaziah, a conflict that Thiel never resolved. The current account accepts the one-year shift in Thiel’s dates for Ahaziah that later scholars explain in the accounts of Rehoboam and Ahaziah, thereby reconciling Thiel’s dates for Athaliah with her predecessor.

These dates are consistent with cross-synchronism between Ahaziah and Athaliah and the Northern Kingdom. Athaliah is usually considered the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of Israel; She married Joram and sealed the covenant between Israel and Judah.
